I have quite a few medical conditions and have been trying to use essential oils to help me along with my medications. To me, even if one oil helps a little bit, it’s a victory. When Young Living contacted me asking me to test out some of their oils, there was no way I was saying no.
“Young Living has always been at the forefront of bringing this ancient tradition to modern users, introducing millions to a total mind/body wellness they may never have dreamed possible.Primarily extracted through careful steam distillation but also through cold pressing, the purest essential oils are far more powerful than the botanicals from which they were extracted. Any time you hold a bottle of our powerful essential oils, you are holding nature's pure essence.”
probably about 6 months ago Fallon started having night terrors, and let me tell you, those are horrible. It’s so sad when your little one is scared at night and is screaming. Not matter what we tried nothing helped until we started using essential oils. Since receiving the Young Living oils, we have switched over and are only using their Lavender. I used to spray it in the air mixed with water in a spray bottle. I now use a little coconut oil with the lavender and rub it on the bottom of her feet. It seriously works like a charm. I even gave some to our daycare provider to put on Fallon’s feet at nap time. There definitely is a difference in sleep patterns.
Other ways to use Lavender
- Soothe minor burns by applying 2–3 drops of lavender essential oil to the affected area.
- Rub lavender essential oil on dry or chapped skin to moisturize the affected area.
- Add a few drops of lavender essential oil to a cotton ball and place it in closets and drawers to scent linens and repel moths and insects.
- You may be able to minimize the appearance of scar tissue by massaging lavender essential oil on or around affected areas.
Peppermint is another oil that is a must for me. I have chronic nausea and chronic headaches. If I catch my nausea very early on I can usually subside it with a drop of peppermint under my nose or just smell it right from the bottle. Luckily I love the smell, so I can handle it. I have noticed that using Young Living Peppermint has seemed to work better for me than using a different companies.
Another way I use peppermint is by creating a blend with it and lavender and rub on my temples when I get a headache. It’s the same thing with my headaches, if I catch it early, the oils can help but if it gets too far then not a lot helps me. If you are not used to using oils, I would use a carrier oil when applying to your skin.

A few other uses
- Add a drop of peppermint essential oil to herbal tea to help aid normal digestion.
- Rub one drop of peppermint essential oil on the temples, forehead, over the sinuses (careful to avoid contact with your eyes), and on the back of the neck to relieve head pressure.
- Place 2 drops of peppermint essential oil on the tongue and rub another drop of oil under the nose to help improve concentration and alertness.
- Apply peppermint essential oil to the back of the neck and shoulders throughout the day to keep energy up.
- Diffuse or inhale peppermint essential oil mid-morning to curb the desire to snack.
I have never used cinnamon bark oils before, so I was really excited to try this one. I was even more excited when I learned that cinnamon is thought to promote healthy cardiovascular and immune function. I have Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), so finding something that will help my heart, I definitely want to try.
Of course you can also use it when cooking, or in drinks like coffee or tea. I have used cinnamon syrups before in my drinks but I really like using the Young Living Cinnamon Bark better. It takes a lot fresher.
Christmas Spirit is for aromatic use. you can use it in potpourri, or even on the wood you are burning in the fireplace. That way as the wood burns you will have the sweet smell throughout your house.
I will be honest. I personally wasn’t able to try out this oil. I had a friend of mine do it for me. I have a severe allergy to pine, and Christmas Spirit has spruce in it. I did some research and it does suggest that I may not be allergic to this, but right now my health is bad so I don’t want to try it until it gets a little better, thus why I had a friend.
My friend Melissa loved it, as she really loves the smell of trees and of course remindes her of Christmas. I think once I feel better I will try it, but I don’t want to take any chances right now.
I have borrowed Young Living Thieves from a friend before and loved it, so I was super excited about getting my own bottle. From what I have read, most use Thieves for cleaning. I actually read someplace that it may help my headaches if I put some on the bottom of my feet at night. I had a horrible migraine for 11 days. I was willing to try just about anything. So I put some on my feet. It didn’t seem to help the first night, but the second night it really did seem to. My plan has been to put a little on my feet every night from now in, just in case my head starts hurting like it normally does.
Thieves comes in more than just the oil. Young Living also makes a Thieves hand soap which is amazing. With the Thieves. This soap is foaming, so a little goes a very long way. I need to remind my family that so they don’t use it all up in a couple of days. I really like that they added Lemon to the soap. It helps make it smell even better.
The last thing I received was a pack of the Thieves wipes. I am in love with these wipes but don’t want to use them up too quickly, so I am only using them when i’m out of the house especially when we are at the grocery store and use a cart. They are perfect for wiping the handle.

ReplyDeleteThis is great information. I will have to try the lavender with my son. He has had night terrors since he was small. I always thought he would out grow them, but he hasn't. He is 18 and still has them from time to time. The last one he had my husband went into his room to try to wake him up and he almost broke my husbands nose kicking and punching. It is one of the most helpless feelings in the world watching him have one. I worry about him moving out on his own and having one when we are not around.
ReplyDeleteEssential oils are the hottest thing now. I need to try the Thieves right about now for my sore throat! Thanks for the info on the other oils.
