Dump Dinners and Dump Cakes Review

I used to say, well I don’t cook. I can’t really say that anymore as I have been cooking more often, but i’m still not that good (that I can still say). So the easier the recipe the better for me. I had seen Dump Dinners on infomercials and some of the recipes looked really good. I was more than happy to check out both Dump Dinners and Dump Cakes when I was asked.

There are over 250 recipes in Dump Dinners, so I wasn’t even sure where to start, but I decided to go with breakfast foods, since those can be eaten anytime of day really. I mean who doesn’t like eggs or pancakes at night? As I was looking through I saw the recipe titled Easy Cheesy Breakfast Bake. It had eggs, sausage, and bacon in it. They had me at bacon. I had to make it. The recipe is below.

I found that most of the recipes in Dump Dinners had a handful of ingredients and more are what we already had in the fridge or pantry. I love this, as most of the time I have to go to the store because i’m missing things that I just don’t keep stocked. I have a feeling this book is going to be put to really good use. I showed my mom and I’m thinking she will be borrowing it as well.

One of the other recipes I have my eye on is the Slow Cooked Pulled Pork (pg 235). I find it interesting that it calls for 2 cans of root beer. I would never have thought to use root beer, but I love pulled pork, so I will have to try this one out.

There are only a few pictures in the book. I don’t mind that at all since the recipes are easy, so you really don’t need to follow step by step pictures. This also cuts down on the size of the book, making it smaller and less bulky.

Looking through the Dump Cakes book, it was really hard to find a recipe that I didn’t want to try. There was one in the beginning (pg 14) that I knew I couldn’t get away from NOT making. Classic Apple Dump Cake! I mean who doesn’t like Apple pie filling, cinnamon all mixed into a cake (besides my oldest daughter, and I don’t get it)? I will be making this tomorrow on Mother’s Day.

Just like the Dump Dinners, there are over 250 recipes and seriously they all sound amazing. I’m pretty sure I’ll be gaining a few pounds from these.

At only $10 each (not including S&H) they are well worth the cost. I recommend you check them out and order some for you or someone else as a gift. If you do buy them, please come back and tell me what you made and if you loved it.

Easy Cheesy Breakfast Bake

Ingredients:

  • 1 tube Grands Biscuits, separated and cut into quarters.
  • 1 cup of either egg beaters or 3 eggs beaten with ¼ cup milk
  • 1 cup precooked sausage crumbles or 8 links cut up or 1 cup precooked bacon chopped up (I used a cup of cooked bacon pieces from the deli area of the store) or BOTH (like I did)
  • ¾ cup shredded cheese

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350
  2. spray 9x13 pan with nonstick spray
  3. arrange cut up biscuit pieces in a single layer in pan
  4. distribute bacon or sausage or both evenly over biscuits
  5. pour egg over all
  6. sprinkle evenly with cheese
  7. bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until egg is set and biscuits are brown.

ENJOY!
