We talk so often about baby video monitors and how much we love and need to keep an eye on them. At the same time, we need to protect the rest of our house. We can do that the same way with security cameras. It used to be that only the ultra rich or businesses needed them. Not anymore, and they are now way more affordable for the everyday consumer. I was recently sent the Samsung SmartCam HD Plus to test out. I have to say, I love it.
The first thing I look for in a security camera is if it’s wifi, and this is. This is perfect for checking in while you are gone and not waiting until you get back to review the recorded footage.
You can do everything from the app (which is free). You can personalize the camera to tell you when the camera picks up audio, motion or just simply records it. One of the really cool perks is that this camera comes with a 16GB micro SD card. If you want something bigger you can put one up to 128 GB. Most cameras i see don’t include them, so I thought that was really neat.
This also has way that you can not of course hear what the person is saying in your home, but if for any reason you need to talk to them you can. You can also scare off someone by choosing a few different options of noises like a dog barking, alarm siren and police siren. Seems a little silly but if it works, then it works.

Each time I look at the app I notice another feature that is awesome to use. You can add more than one camera. I simply named this one living room since that’s where I have it. That way you know exactly where you are going to see when you click on it. At that point you can look live or you can watch the “events” which are the recorded sessions. Everthing is listed by day and then by time so you don’t have to scroll through a huge long list of all the times just to find it. Just simply go to that day.
Right now I have the camera sitting on a stand in my living room as i’m not sure on the exact location I want it in. Once I do decide I will then mount it (mounting kit included).
I love checking on my house when i’m gone, but I also have pets. I haven’t caught my pets doing anything crazy yet, but give it time and i’m sure they will, and when they do i’ll let you know.
