Dinner at Bonefish Grill

A couple weeks ago on Mother’s Day we had the chance to try out a new restaurant that we hadn’t been to before. I have had many friends talk about Bonefish Grill and how great it is. So I was really excited when we had a chance to go there with my family.

I want to start by saying that having dinner at Bonefish Grill was the perfect ending to a fun day in Las Vegas. We had reservations at 4pm and were seated right away, that was a great start. I have been to many restaurants and have had to wait a long time despite having a reservation.

After taking a look at the drink specials I knew I had to try the Wild Orchid Hawaiian Martini. To sum it up, this was a glass of Cruzan Guava rum, pineapple juice, Zinco coconut water + the island flavor of desert pear and coconut. All together and topped with an edible orchid. I’m not typically a martini drinker, but this, well this doesn’t taste like any martini I have ever had. It was so sweet and refreshing.

So many of my friends who have had the Bang Bang Shrimp. Under their recommendation I ordered it as an appetizer for everyone. When they brought it out, I had to fight my husband off so I could take pictures first (he should know better, I mean this isn’t our first rodeo.) I can’t blame him as all the fried shrimp was piled up on some lettuce and some scallions placed over. As soon as I was done, I allowed everyone to dig in. If you like spice, you will love this. It doesn’t have a ton of spice, just enough. My 13 year old who can’t do a lot even liked it. If all you do is order appetizers, then you must, I mean, must try the Bang Bang Shrimp.

For the little one we ordered fish strips and steamed broccoli. Now they did ask if she would rather have fries, but Fallon loves broccoli and asked for it. Bonefish didn’t skimp out of the fish either, they gave her two good size pieces of fried fish and a large portion of broccoli. Fallon was even more enticed when the manager came out and said if she ate most of her broccoli she would get a special dessert. She loves her veggies, but anytime you tell a 3 year old she can have a special dessert, they are even more motivated.

Darin opted to order the Blackened Baja Fish Tacos. These are three large fish tacos topped with mango salsa, lime crema + fresh herb pesto. I stole a bite, because well I was “working” (that was my excuse).  The taco was beyond good. I love the fish, but the mango salsa was amazing. I learned after that they make it fresh every day. They should really jar it up and sell it. I know I will be one to buy it.

Mya doesn’t like to try new things often, so she opted for the Sirloin + Crab Cake Dinner. She wasn’t the fan of the crab cake, but she’s really really picky. I tried it as did Darin and we both thought it was really good. You could tell that they didn’t use a ton of filling, so the ratio to crab was really good. She loved the steak, and finished the whole thing.

I was focused on the specials and wanted to try the Haddock. Kate’s Wild North Atlantic Haddock. Bonefish describes it as “mildly sweet white fish, garlic crumb dusted, wood-grilled, topped with feta, artichokes, lemon basil butter sauce, served on a bed of mashed potatoes.” I loved every bite especially the fish. The breading wasn’t thick, it was light. I was able to enjoy the fish and not just focus on the breading that it was cooked in.

Last but not least, came Fallon’s special dessert. She received 3 donuts with a little bowl of chocolate and a bowl of caramel dipping sauce along with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. As you can tell from the picture she was really enjoying the donut, but since she ate so much of her dinner she only had room for one. Once we got home she was already asking for the other two.

Overall, we had a fantastic time at Bonefish Grill, and really do recommend it to anyone who likes seafood. The food was great as you can tell and the staff was fantastic. You can tell that they love their job. They didn’t act like “we HAVE to help them, it’s our job” they really did seem happy. So thank you to the Las Vegas location and we can’t wait to come back again.

  19. I confess I'm not much of a fish eater but these look very tempting especially the haddock with feta & artichokes. It's not a combination I'd have thought of so I'm interested to try it out for myself.
