Give the gift of Sports from CoachUp

My oldest daughter is 13, and can be VERY hard to shop for. It doesn’t help that most of the time she just says, “I don’t know”, like a normal teenager. So, when CoachUp contacted me to work with them, I thought this was a perfect Christmas gift.

In a nutshell, CoachUp is a service/site that connects athletes (your children) with private coaches that will work with them one on one.

When it comes to anyone working with my kids one on one, I always want to make sure it’s safe. So I want to reassure you that it’s very safe. CoachUp conducts 3 distinct background checks on every coach - identification verification, sex offender check, and national criminal search. For us, we met at a public park, so it was even more reassuring.

CoachUp currently has over 30 sports categories, and I’m sure more each day. As of right now you can find some of the following (not limited):

  • Basketball
  • Baseball
  • Football
  • Soccer
  • Swimming
  • Track
  • Lacrosse
  • Wrestling
  • Snowboarding
  • And so many more

The first thing you need to do, is put what sport you want and then your location. CoachUp will then either ask more questions to narrow down your needs, or show you the coaches in your area. Each coach has a profile so you can see their experience. It also shows what services they offer along with the cost of each session, or bundling sessions up. You can of course book as many sessions as you want or can afford. Everything is done through their site with payment, so no need to think about cash, checks etc when you see the coach.

Mya plays a few sports, but her favorite is basketball. She has been playing since 3rd grade (now in 8th), so she knows her basics. Even though, she knows what she’s doing, she knows that she still has a lot to work on and really wanted to focus on handling.

We met with DB Brooks (he just moved to NC) for our sessions in Las Vegas at a public park (perks of living in the desert). For two hours, they worked on dribbling with more confidence, other ball handling, shooting, and so much more. Two hours may seem like a long time, but when you have a lot to work on, it goes by fast.

DB was always professional with Mya. Never once did I see him get upset, or losing patients with her. He was always encouraging her, and looking for other ways of explaining or showing, if the first way didn’t work.

Overall, I’m very happy with our entire experience with CoachUp. Personally, I love this idea for a gift. I know for my family, my kids have so many toys and electronics. After a little while, they don’t play with it anymore. With CoachUp, the information and experience is priceless as they can take it with them, and even show their other teammates. Check it out today and see if they have the right coach for you, and in your area.
