Hunt a Killer - Give your Valentine a 6 month Murder Mystery

Being disabled and sick means that I can’t always leave the house, so I have to stay in. Dan and I try to find things to do as a couple that don’t just involve watching TV, but it’s not easy. Recently I came across a really cool idea It’s called Hunt a Killer. It’s a murder mystery game where you well find out who the killer is. It’s not like any I have played before. Since I love, and I mean LOVE me some CSI, Criminal Minds, etc I thought this would be so much fun. I was super excited when we received the first box (it’s a subscription so it takes 6 month’s time to solve). This is perfect for Valentine’s Day as it’s such a great couples thing to do together.

Before you begin you want to make sure you have a few things first. Supplies will help you be a little more organized. VERY important, that you will want an open space where you will put everything. We took down a few pictures on our living room wall so that we could put everything up. That way it wasn’t out of sight out of mind. The types of things you will want are:

corkboard (you can get the squares or the ones that have the rim around it. Squares are good as you can add to it as needed). You can also order a kit from Huntakiller.com
Pushpins
Sticky notes
Highlighter
Pens
String

The first episode/box just gives you the laydown. There is a theme of course. For our theme it was the class of Ninety-Eight. Charlie was murdered in his car after his class reunion and well, we have to find out who did it.  You get some information, a letter from the Sheriff, yearbook, accident scene, some witness statements etc.

Besides the clues from the boxes, you get special access to the Sheriff’s online records from the password he leaves you. With the online evidence you will get audio and video evidence. This will really help you as well. Each box gives you different clues, evidence, and what you need along the way to either eliminate a suspect from your list or make you think someone is a person of interest. Remember don’t always take a person’s word at face value and look over each clue for anything hidden. You never know what you may uncover.

After each episode you need to eliminate at least one or more suspects. You will go to the website and put in the password that is in the box and follow the instructions. If you are correct in your choice it will let you know.  I’ll be honest, I was a little nervous selecting my first choice even though we had a good chance of being right with the odds in our favor.

You can join Facebook groups too if you want to get help with anything. They don’t give the killer away, but they will give you help if you need it. I love the support they give everyone one. It’s really cool to see the love of a game.

Hunt a Killer really has done a good job of keeping our attention and making us second guess ourselves. You wonder well could this be, or this be.  Speaking of the Facebook group, It was really cool to see what other’s did with their set ups as well. It was nice to see that we weren’t the only ones to do boards and really get into the game. I mean if you are going to spend months and play, have fun with it right?

You can buy 1 box at a time if you want, but your value is buying a full season which is the 6 months. When you do this, you also get free shipping on US orders! If you order 2 seasons at once you can save even more and bring it down to $25 per box instead of $27.50.

Take a look at Hunt a Killer if you are looking for something a little out of the box and want that together time with your Valentine. I’m sure both of you will enjoy it. I know Dan and I are loving it, and we can’t wait to bring justice to Charlie and find out who killed him.
