5G – What is it? Why does it matter? How will it help me and my family?

5G – What is it? Why does it matter? How will it help me and my family?

5G has been in the news a lot lately, hasn’t it? I know I have seen it all over the place, but do you know what it means, and will it really help your family? I want to break down 5G for you and how it can help your family. Everyone wants an amazing 5G experience that actually works inside and outdoors. I mean, I hear my kids complain if their Netflix show isn’t loading on their phone, and they stream everything. As I type this, they are on the couch right now, all of them glued to a device, playing a game, watching YouTube or watching TV. 5G Is the next generation of wireless, and with greater reliability, enhanced capacity and faster speeds than 4G LTE we are so thankful that T-Mobile customers can get a 5G signal in more places than anyone else.

How does it help my family?

People need consistent 5G access if they are going to be able to enjoy 5G’s benefits, and T-Mobile customers can get a 5G signal in more places than anyone else.

The girls and I just took a little girls only trip and left the boys to, well, fend for themselves (sorry boys). 5G coverage is so important on these trips if we want to be able to stream movies on our phone. In the past when we took that route, I remember part of the trip there being a huge dead zone as we live in the middle of nowhere. With the car all gassed up and snacks on board, we were ready to go. Of course, Fallon needed the phone to watch a movie.

*To see what kind of phones T-Mobile has with 5G enabled - check them out here. Fallon is watching movies on a Samsung Galaxy S20 5G.

T-Mobile has built the first and largest nationwide 5G network in the country. It really shows that T-Mobile’s network covers more than 250,000,000 people across more than 1.3 million square miles and 7,500 cities and towns, much of that in rural America. I love it, as do my kiddos. The best part of a road trip in the country is the scenery. I’m happy we’re on T-Mobile’s ultra-relaible 5G network! Take a look at the geese. I wish the photo was a little better, I do apologize, but we were on the move. Haha!

Along the way, we stopped and met our friends at the park. Since nobody was there yet, I allowed Fallon to keep her mask off (man the things we think of in a covid-19 world). You may be thinking why did we take such a long drive for just a park, well Fallon’s best friend moved this summer. We meet up so they can see each other as much as possible, and when they can’t, well, they do play time via FaceTime (thank you 5G!).

Now we don’t just use 5G on road trips. Mya loves to go for walks and when she does, she usually streams her music on YouTube, Pandora or some other service. Fresh air is super important, especially right now as most of us are inside the majority of the day.

We are a regular family, much like you I’m sure, and we need consistency. I don’t want a carrier that goes in and out. That’s what I love about T-Mobile’s nationwide 5G network, the largest 5G network in the country.

.

How can 5G help you?

Now 5G isn’t only useful for travel. There are so many technological innovations happening right now that 5G is needed to help bring to life: AI, drones, robotics, and even autonomous driving vehicles! Are we living in 2020 right and not a Jetsons episode? Even better, with T-Mobile, it doesn’t cost more: 5G access costs the same as LTE with the Un-carrier.

With us traveling and going all over our little town, it’s important for me to be part of America’s first and largest nationwide 5G network. Let’s be real moms, none of us want to hear our kids say their streaming is buffering. This is only the beginning. T-Mobile has even bigger plans to supercharge 5G, with a broad and deep network for all Americans.

I can’t wait to see what they have planned next. Have you noticed a difference with your 5G service?

  4. 5G is the next advancement in modern history. It is easy to see why people are afraid considering how quickly big tech has actually taken over and shaped our society. I am so excited to see what our next chapter in technology brings.

    1. I have zero fear of tech. Except for autonomous robots. I think Skynet taught us all a valuable lesson there.

  6. We also have 5G and it is waaaayyyyy better. No more lag, connectivity is reliable and it does not matter how many devices are connected, the speed is stable. I am happy our internet provider has made this available to their subscribers.

  14. It's great to see 5G rolling out more and more! I'm hoping my carrier will switch over soon, from the LTE network that it's currently on.

  15. that's great that 5g is same cost as LTE on the phone. Question though -- why do children need this? since internet is so expensive, wouldn't it make more sense for the parents to have it on their phones and kids can get T-Mobile's $3 pay as you go?
