T-Mobile Has Our Kids’ Education in Mind

This post is sponsored by T-Mobile.

Imagine your kids going to school and learning via Virtual Reality. I got your attention right? I mean, all those hours teens spend on video games could pay off and help them learn new skills! It’s National Career Development Month and what better time to learn

how technology with 5G connectivity is bringing a new way of learning for kids thanks to T-Mobile

So, I mentioned VR learning above, but let me tell you more about what they are doing with it. It’s AMAZING. For students studying biology-related majors or in pre-med Fisk University (in Nashville, TN) partnered up with T-Mobile, HTC VIVE, and VictoryXR to launch a 5G powered VR human cadaver lab. This is a first of its kind, and I seriously wish I was in Nashville so I could see this in person. Hey Fisk University, if you are reading this and want to fly this medical junkie out to see this, I promise I won’t say no haha!

I think that this new model of learning is really going to create an even better class of students. It’s so immersive. Dr. Vann Newkirk, president of Fisk University said “We’re combining the best aspects of virtual and in-person learning, and this is the future of education,” I couldn’t agree more with that statement. He also said “Fisk University is emerging as a tech leader among colleges, and our effort to bring a virtual reality cadaver lab to campus exemplifies our commitment to provide students with a state-of-the-art education.” I mean, imagine if we knew back when we played the game Operation as a kid that we would be able to take it to this next level in learning.

If your kids aren’t college age (my younger ones aren’t yet), the Future Leaders Outreach Network operates a mobile classroom, exposing middle and high schoolers to a variety of career paths via Virtual Reality career simulations, from industrial robotics technicians to welders and first responders. This National Career Development Month, it’s so great to see how T-Mobile is helping our kids find what they might want to study in the future and learn what they’re meant to be with the help of connected technology.

Check out this video below where it shows the VR in motion.

I think it’s important to mention here a little about T-Mobile’s Project 10 Million, which I talked about earlier this year. This initiative is connected to programs like what we are seeing at Fisk University, because it helps kids in all areas of the country have access to connectivity! It’s such an important program for families who were impacted during the pandemic when it came to remote learning. Not everyone has access to reliable internet or the updated technology needed to do their work at school so I’ll fill you in again in case it’s helpful to you or someone you know.

To date, T-Mobile has helped over 4.3 million students by offering affordable connectivity as well as laptops/tablets. I know even in my area in Wisconsin where kids didn’t have Wi-Fi, this program made all the difference in getting them the schooling they needed during the pandemic. There are so many resources to learn how it could help your school district, community, or your own family and friends.

If you are a teacher and you think your school needs assistance, please fill out the form and see if T-Mobile can help. It’s so worth it. Also, if you know any child or family that you think needs a little help in this area, share this with them and they could get a tablet or laptop at cost and a free hotspot.

I’m so thankful to be working with a company that takes our kids' futures so seriously and wants to help them succeed and reach their potential.

  9. I wish that my son could do this. He hates going to school and would rather focus on learning more on his terms. But schools just don't work that way. But at least adding VR would make it fun.
