Wummelbox: Crafting Fun that lasts!

“Straight from the heart of Berlin – the ultimate hub of creativity and style – comesWummelbox, a subscription arts & crafts service just for kids age 3-8.   Each high-quality Wummelbox contains 3-4 themed-based projects (i.e., “Nutrition,” “Music,” or “Color and Light”) and is designed to inspire children to learn and explore the world around them.

Each Wummelbox contains everything needed to immediately begin crafting, and all items meet the highest European and US standards for toys.  Even better: Wummelbox takes the extra step to use eco-friendly and style-conscience materials whenever possible (i.e. recycling of the packaging, reforested wood, material like cork and sand, etc.) for a crafting kit parents – and kids – can feel good about.
In a unique twist, the box actually becomes a part of the craft in many of the kits! In addition, each craft is carefully thought out to be used over and over (e.g. sewing felt fruit for a cash register or creating a windchime and drum for musical enjoyment.)”

*The Wummelbox was received from Childs Play PR and Wummelbox in exchange for an honest review.

If you have read this blog for any time at all, you know that we are completely wild over subscription boxes and we love arts and crafts! I’ve loved art my entire life; so of course, I shared that love with my son. When we were contacted to receive the Wummelbox for review, I was thrilled to try it out! The Wummelbox is straight from Berlin and made of extremely high quality materials. I’m talking real, solid wood and name brand scissors. Wummelbox definitely is not taking the “cheap” way out! The wonderful thing about the box is that each month there is a different theme. This month? It was time travel.

There is no better theme for my little man. You see, he is obsessed with the stone age and dinosaurs, so we immediately had to do the cave painting! It was soooo much fun for him. To make it even more fun, it’s not like they just give you stamps and cloth. You actually have to put these stamps together using these smooth wooden circles, some foam shapes, and adhesive dots. You then paint these, and apply them to the cloth. My little man loved the finished product so much he has it hung where he often plays with his dinosaurs.

We also loved the time travel machine. It was really fun to paint, apply the stickers, and even better- we got to bust out the tools and make REAL functioning nobs. Super cool, and a toy that little man can use his imagination with in the future.

The last one was more of a game than a craft project or toy. It involved painting your own dice, creating felt pieces and an elephant. Rolling the dice you make your way back to the elephant. Once again, this is something little man will be using in the future because he simply adores games….and we have family game night quite often!!

Wummelbox was a project we just loved. I love how absolutely self explanatory the instructions were, and that it completely took away all of the guess work (I get really frustrated with instructions) and little man could do a lot of this by himself. He is five, so having it listed for kids aged 3-8 is perfect in my opinion. Of course, the smaller children might need more help, and the older children could probably do this completely on their own.

The Wummelbox is anywhere from $19.95- $34.95 depending on which option you choose (annual payment- monthly subscription or a one time box purchase). It is totally worth the price; because, we are talking about high quality arts and crafts and tools that can be used for other purposes when completed. Not a craft project that is useless and will be thrown in the garbage as soon as it is finished.
