Cooking Chinese with Lee Kum Kee

We love Chinese food in my house but never make it. We always order it for delivery or go to the restaurant to eat. I never took the time to really figure out how to make it. Recently I was asked to try Lee Kum Kee, a line of sauces and other condiments.

We decided to try the orange chicken first and figured while we were at it, we would make fried rice for the first time as well. I mean, why not. We were already making the chicken.

Not to toot my own horn, but both the orange chicken and the fried rice were amazing! Lee Kum Kee made cooking it so easy. I just had to get all the ingredients together and then pour the sauce over and mix. They really do take a lot of the work out of the equation. To get the taste of the sauce by myself would never happen. I wouldn’t know where to start except for calling for take out.

Lee Kum Kee has a whole line of the ready sauces from the orange chicken, to beef and broccoli and many more. Not only that but they have condiments like Sriracha Chili Ketchup which is not as hot as you think it would be. Perfect on a hot dog or corn dog (very american, I know). For those who like mayo, they have a great Sriracha Mayo that is so good. I mixed it in a tuna salad that everyone just loved. If you are worried about calories, don’t be, the sauce has only 80 calories for 2 tbsp. It is high in sodium, but not in calories, so that is a plus (for me anyway).

There are too many products to talk about, but go and look at their site. You can’t order directly from the site, but you can find their products in most grocery stores, or even on Amazon. We have also made the broccoli beef as well (used chicken instead), it was so easy and so good!  We loved the orange chicken so much that we have already bought a few bags so we have them ready whenever we want to cook it again.

This recipe and the rest of Lee Kum Kee’s products will definitely be apart of my best of 2015!

  1. This is something I will be looking for. I would like to give them a try with my rice dishes. Cheaper than take out.

  2. Pam V H Prepared sauces are great when you don't want to buy and store lots of different containers of the various ingredients. I have a Trader Joe's nearby, and their frozen Orange Chicken is delicious too.

  10. I've tried their Orange Chicken sauce before. It was pretty good. Honestly, though, it's much easier to pick up some carry-out from our favorite Chinese restaurant!
