One Pot Sloppy Joes

I was trying to come up with ideas to make for the Super Bowl and one that is perfect is Sloppy Joes. I had never made from scratch before so it was an experiment. They turned out really good, so I wanted to share with you. I hope you like them as well.

Ingredients:
2-1/2 pounds Ground Beef
1/2 whole Large Onion, Diced
5 cloves Garlic, Minced
1-1/2 cup Ketchup
1 cup Water
2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
2 teaspoons Chili Powder (more To Taste)
1 teaspoon Dry Mustard
1/2 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes (more To Taste)
Worcestershire Sauce, To Taste
Tabasco Sauce (optional; To Taste)
Salt To Taste
Freshly Ground Black Pepper, To Taste
Buns

Directions:
Brown the ground beef, and drain the water/fat.
Add onions, and garlic. Cook for a few minutes, until onions get soft.
Add ketchup, brown sugar, chili powder, dry mustard, and water. Stir to combine and simmer for 15-20 minutes, adding salt and pepper to taste.
Add Tabasco if desired. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed.
Serve on toasted or untoasted (I prefer soft) buns.

Enjoy

  1. I like Sloppy Joes but I don't think I have ever tried to make them. This recipe looks so good and so easy that I think that will change fairly soon.

  7. I've never heard of Sloppy Joes (I'm assuming they're an American dish) but I do something similar with chilli beef on potato cakes (an Irish standard!). Yum!

  8. Sloppy Joes are always a crowd pleaser I think. I add 2 teaspoons of cumin powder to mine and they are awesome.

  13. I make not so sloppy joes something like this but not 2 pounds at a time. I'm always spilling so I must have a thicker joe to keep it on the bun. Thanks for sharing.

  15. Reads like a good recipe. I think I'd omit chili powder and include some mince mushrooms.

  19. I like one pot meals because after cooking dinner I don't feel like moving after I've eaten, and if it's one pan sometimes I'll just let it soak too haha
