Protect Your Families Eyes from Computer Vision Syndrome with Retirecare

This sponsored post is a part of the campaign “Protecting America’s Eyes” by Reticare in order to inform U.S. citizens about the importance of eye protection from device screens. The opinions expressed in this post are entirely my own.

We are an electronic family. One of us always has our head in our devices. My oldest son and I often suffer from headaches, so I have wondered if it could be directly related to the amount of screen time we have, but never thought much more beyond that until I heard about Reticare. These screen protectors for your tablet and phones protect your eyes and prevent them from getting overly tired and strained. As a mom, I am always looking for ways to protect my children, and in this case, it is no different. I KNOW that the time we spend on starring and the high energy screens is harmful but so much is done today with electronics it is hard to limit the time. We spend so much time in front of our screens, and it turns out that we are not unusual in the USA. Apparently, 60% of people use a device at least 5 hours a day and 70% use two at one time. I am so guilty of this. Between my phone, and facebook and then I blog here, and am in online school full time...yep, I am always on an electronic! 65% of America is dealing with the same exact symptoms I am which are signs of eye strain. These symptoms include: neck, shoulder pain, headaches, blurred vision and dry eyes. Unfortunately, children are the MOST at risk of digital eyes strain because their natural eye lid protections are not fully developed until the age of 25. Being overexposed to high energy light can cause sleep disorders, a decrease in macular thickness and even a regression in macular degeneration. So, what can we do about this?? Well, Reticare may be the answer.

Reticare protects our eyes and provides different levels of protection based on the users age, and the amount of time they spend staring at high energy producing devices. Reticare helps to reduce computer vision syndrome which produces red, blurry, irritated eyes and headaches. Even though, right now these may be the most troublesome symptoms, the REALLY important problem that Reticare helps with is retinal damage. Retinal damage can lead to glaucoma, cataracts and macular degeneration. Once the Retina cells die, they can not be replenished.

I don't know about you, but if protecting myself, and my kids is as simple as installing a screen protector on our devices, it is well worth it. It was fairly simple to install, and the light yellow protector does not decrease the visibility of our devices at all. I think I have had a decrease in headaches since using it, and my son has not complained at all about his. I have even noticed a decrease in a problematic eye twitch he has been having. Overall, I am very happy with the products from Reticare, and I am sure you will be too!
