Gwaltney Makes Food for the Whole Family to Love

Tracking Pixel
This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Gwaltney. All opinions are my own.

My kids can be the pickiest eaters. Fallon is a typical 4 year old, that thinks “green stuff” is bad.  I found that if I get her help in the kitchen, she’s more apt to eat the food. So, I have her help pick out the ingredients, put them in pan, stir etc. More often than not, she will eat it. With my Teenager, well it’s harder, but the helping sometimes works. Recently we were sent a few foods from Gwaltney to try out. Their products like hot dogs, mini corn dogs etc can be eaten any time of day.

With school in session, it means that school nights are busy and we don’t really have time to cook big huge meals. One of our favorites is “Breakfast for Dinner”. Since Gwaltney Foods has breakfast sausage, bacon, turkey, ham etc, you can countless combinations. We decided to make a protein packed omelet. I will be honest, I can’t make a regular omelet, it never turns out. So, I learned to make it in a bag. It’s super easy, little mess, AND almost always turns out perfect. I learned this little “trick” while camping. I don’t camp now, but I can still apply the same thing to my stove at home.

What I usually do is take the breakfast sausage and crumble it up in advance and then it’s ready for whatever I need during the week. This breakfast sausage has old-fashioned mild flavor with just the right amount of spices. It can be used for anything later on.

Supplies:
Heavy duty zip bags- quart or gallon (gallon if you plan to use more than 3 eggs or if using a lot of ingredients)
Large kettle

Ingredients:
  • Eggs
  • Shredded cheese
  • Milk
  • Salt & pepper
  • Gwaltney bacon- coarsely chopped
  • Sausage crumble
  • Ham/turkey
  • Sweet peppers
  • Chopped parsley
  • Anything else you want in your omelet

Directions:
  • Fill kettle with water and bring to a boil (leave room for bags to sit inside)
  • Add as many eggs you want in the bag with salt/pepper, and milk. Then smoosh it together until blended (I do it all inside the bag to create less of a mess)
  • Add all the ingredients you want into the bag.
  • Smoosh it all together again, so everything is well blended.
  • Seal the bag so no air left.
  • Repeat until all of the bags are done.
  • Place the bags inside the kettle but with the end hanging over the edge. Place the lid to create a seal and to hold the bags in place
  • Wait about 20 mins or until the eggs look done.
  • Take the bags out of the water, open and just slide the omelet onto the place.
  • Garnish with parsley.

Enjoy
It may seem like a lot of steps, but it pretty much comes down to putting everything in a bag, and putting it in boiling water until cooked.

Like I said before, this is the only way my omelets actually look like omelets. Otherwise they ended up being scrambled eggs. Best part is, everyone’s food gets done at the same time. When you have more than one child, it’s a really big deal.

If you aren’t a big breakfast fan, Gwaltney has other awesome foods Roasted White Turkey and Honey Ham which are great for a quick sandwich.

Next time you are at the store, see if they carry Gwaltney products. Our favorite is their Hardwood Smoked Bacon. So much smoky flavor We always have some in the fridge.
