Tmobile Shows Support to our Veterans

Veterans Day often gets lost in the hustle of the holidays. We get so busy with Thanksgiving and Christmas plans that we forget about this important day that celebrates the men and women who fought for our country. I want to take a minute to honor them on Nov 11th with the help of my amazing friends at T-Mobile. I hope you want to join me!

I know that started out kind of sappy and a little unlike me. I’m sorry. Well, kind of sorry. It was meant to get your attention. I mean, our veterans are a big deal. Let’s take a quick second to talk about what Veterans Day is: Veterans Day is dedicated to honoring American veterans of all wars and also showing our appreciation to their families for all they’ve sacrificed.

On that note, I want to introduce you to this amazing woman, Logan Mcintosh, who is a T-Mobile employee and a military spouse. I was reading about her recently and learned that she celebrated her one-year wedding anniversary ALONE and didn’t know where her husband was as he was out on a classified mission. Y’all, I can’t even imagine how hard that is not knowing where your husband is. I mean, as I type this up, I know my husband is working downstairs in his office and is safe.

Logan talked about how they had just been married and moved across the country to Washington State. She had to find a new job as her old employer did not support the military lifestyle of up and moving at a moment’s notice. Did you know that the Chamber of Commerce reported that military spouses have faced an unemployment rate of 22%? That makes service member spouses one of the highest unemployed demographics in the United States! Logan says once they got to Washington, she had a very hard time finding a new job because when potential employers found out her husband was in the military they would ask “Oh, well how long are you stationed in the state?”

Happily, she saw a listing for a T-Mobile position and the rest is history. She says

not only is the company dedicated to building lasting careers for veterans and military spouses, including a commitment to hiring 10,000 veterans and military spouses by end of 2023, but she also shares how the company has provided her, and others in a similar situation, support when military families are given the order to relocate.

She has had to move again since being hired, and says the company supported her and helped her retain her position. That’s where T-Mobile has been a lifesaver for military families, as they offer flexible relocation benefits through their “Military Spouse Portable Career Option.”

I don’t know about living the military life, personally, but I do know about moving across the country. I moved from Wisconsin to Arizona back in 2015 and then back again from Arizona to Wisconsin in 2018. Let me tell you, getting 2 adults, 2 kids, 2 cats, and a really big dog across the country in a PT cruiser is not for the faint of heart. I don’t envy the military families that do this on a very regular basis. In fact, I really don’t know how military families do all this moving at all. I did it twice in 3 years and vowed to never do it again.

Logan says the discounted phone plan T-Mobile offered was also a game change when her husband is deployed for months at a time. Active-duty military, veterans, and their families get 40% off regular Go5G plan rates for family lines.

And you may not know that they are the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs primary wireless provider, and T-Mobile is giving an estimated 50,000 wireless lines for VA healthcare professionals — including doctors, nurses, social workers and crisis hotline staff — so they can stay connected to the millions of veterans they serve by enabling critical medical support like telehealth visits and remote patient monitoring. While I'm not a veteran, I do use telehealth when I see my therapist and it’s a game-changer. I give major props to T-Mobile for offering this service as it’s huge and a must-have for these men and women we are honoring.

I could seriously spend all day going on about what else T-Mobile does for the military community, but I want to highlight just a couple more examples for you….

They partner with organizations like Blue Star Families, Warriors & Quiet Waters, and Hiring Our Heroes to do things like ease the transition into civilian life, help military spouses find the most compatible careers, and support post-9/11 combat veterans to find peace and purpose through outdoor activities. The company also offers free counseling sessions to help former service members identify mental professionals as well as learning and development opportunities to help support them throughout their entire career trajectory.

Whether or not you are in the military or are a veteran, it’s important that we identify companies doing their part to support military families, whether they be employees or customers, and T-Mobile is definitely going above and beyond. Make sure you check out all their Magenta Plans!
